It appears that that Elda Developments has enlisted San Diego-based The Bove Land Group to market this irresponsible 14-story Columbia Street high-rise project on the Mission Hills / Middletown hillside to new investors / developers. Despite Bove’s recent glowing press release that the project is “ready to issue” permits, this project has the same set of persistent unresolved issues. They will be required to disclose all the issues and legal letters attached to this project. Read about them at StopColumbiaHighRise in the Facts section and more detailed critiques in the News & Events section.
This is all about corporate and investor greed at the expense of our neighborhoods — building luxury high-end market-rate apartments and bulldozing the existing affordable housing. Our community and businesses support responsible development of affordable units in our neighborhood. This project does little to nothing for affordable housing, and destroys a historic community character. This is why the neighborhood’s petition is signed by over 1,400 residents and opposed by the local businesses.
The Bove Land Group should do better for our community.
